- Will a ×4 enlargement still look sharp?
- In most cases, yes. A basic resize spreads the same pixels over a bigger area, and that is where the blur comes from. Here the work is done by Real-ESRGAN, a super-resolution model trained on millions of before-and-after image pairs, so edges, textures and small details get redrawn instead of stretched. An old phone snapshot or a screenshot usually comes out much cleaner. What no model can do is recover detail that was never captured: a tiny, heavily compressed thumbnail will still show its limits.
- Does my picture get sent anywhere?
- No. The first time you use the tool, your browser downloads the AI model (less than 5 MB) and keeps it in cache. From then on, every enlargement runs on your own computer or phone, and the image stays there. That makes it a safe pick for family photos, personal documents or files a client trusted you with.
- What files work, and what comes out?
- You can use a JPG, PNG or WebP of up to 50 MB. The download is always a PNG at full size, with no watermark or added compression, and it keeps the photo's EXIF orientation if it has one. For ×4, the starting image is limited to roughly 1 megapixel, which is already enough for a 16-megapixel result.
- Do I have to pay or create an account?
